Gatineau police set to give update on man missing since August

The Gatineau Police Service is set to update the public on its investigation into the disappearance of man, who has now been missing for more than a month. 

Jean-Louis Desrosiers, 79, was last seen around 1 p.m. on August 18, leaving his residence in the Carrefour-de-l'Hôpital district of Gatineau to go shopping.

He was driving his vehicle, a dark gray 2009 Hyundai Elantra, with the license plate Y54 KPQ.

Desrosiers is described as: 

  • White
  • 5'6″ 
  • Short white hair
  • Moustache 
  • Brown eyes
  • Speaks French
  • He has a scar on the top of his left hand
  • Wearing a white t-shirt with the Boston Bruins logo on it at the time of his disappearance. 

At the time of his disappearance, police said there was reason to fear for Desrosiers health and safety and that he could be disoriented. 

Police will provide an update on the investigation at 1:30 p.m., Friday at SPVG Headquarters. Desrosiers' niece will address the media.
