65-year-old man in stable condition after falling 20 ft. to the bottom of the falls at Hogs Back

Firefighters were called to Hogs Back Road after receiving reports of a 65-year-old man falling to the bottom of the falls and hitting his head on a rock. 

Ottawa Fire Services says they received a call at about 11 a.m. Saturday of a man who had slipped and fell 20 ft. on some rocks.

Firefighters quickly determined that the technical rescue and water rescue team was needed and they were dispatched to the scene near Prince of Wales. 

When they got there, firefighters confirmed that rope rescue technicians were needed to assist. 

The technicians placed the patient on a scooped back board and raised his up 20 ft. in a strokes basket to waiting paramedics. 

Paramedics transported the man to hospital in stable condition. 

The man had only suffered facial and extremity injuries.
