Ottawa Public Health (OPH) is issuing stricter workplace instructions, aimed at limiting the spread of COVID-19, with a focus on capacity, physical distancing, masking, and overall safety.
OPH says, if two people at a workplace test positive for COVID-19, the appropriate ministries must be notified, and all employees should make themselves aware of what their benefits cover if they test positive and need to take time off.
Masks are required in the same capacity as the temporary indoor public space bylaw, and physical distancing of two metres must be maintained, or plexi-glass must be installed in situations where that isn't possible.
Licensed child care providers, certain health care and personal service care providers, as well as schools are exempt from these new instructions.
OPH wants all local workplaces to be following these guidelines by Wednesday, December 23, at 12:01 a.m.
As of Friday, December 18, OPH is still tracking three community outbreaks of COVID-19 linked to workplaces.
