Rideau Canal Skateway opening early next week

The Rideau Canal Skateway is set to open for the 2021 season early next week.

Preparations have been underway for weeks now, and the National Capital Commission (NCC) hopes to finalize the opening date within the next 24 hours.

This year marks the 51st season for the world's largest skating rink.

Earlier this month, the NCC confirmed the ice would be permitted to open during Ontario's state of emergency and province-wide lockdown.

All users will be required to wear a mask at all times while on the skateway.
