Ottawa police arrest four in drug trafficking investigation

Ottawa police’s Guns and Gangs unit have arrested four people following an October investigation into drug trafficking in the city’s west and south ends.

According to police, two residences were search police last week on Westpointe Crescent (near Centrepointe Drive) in the city’s west and Regatta Avenue (in Barrhaven).

As part of the investigation, officers seized a loaded 9 mm Glock 26, a loaded .38 calibre Smith and Wesson, purple fentanyl, cocaine, more than 1,100 hydromophone pills, over 100 pill of oxycocet, as well as cash, a BMW and drug paraphernalia.

The four people arrested were:

Abdallah Bassuny, 35:

  • Four counts of possession of a schedule 1 substance for trafficking
  • Use/handle/store firearm, etc. carelessly
  • Possessing restricted or prohibited firearm without holding a licence and registration certificate
  • Possessing restricting or prohibited firearm knowingly not holding a licence and registration certificate
  • Possessing a loaded regulated firearm
  • Possessing a firearm with altered serial numbers
  • Possessing proceeds of property or thing obtained by crime exceeding $5,000
  • Two count of possessing a firearm, etc. while prohibited
  • Possessing illicit cannabis

Leo Dupuis, 25:

  • Use/handle/store firearm etc. carelessly
  • Possessing weapon, etc./dangerous to public peace
  • Carrying a concealed weapon, etc.
  • Possessing restricted or prohibited firearm without holding a licence and registration certificate
  • Possessing registration or prohibited firearm without holding a licence and registration certificate
  • Occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm, etc.
  • Possessing a loaded regulated firearm

The other two individuals have been charged and released.

Bassuny and Dupuis remain in custody.
