Tankers shuttled in from local marina as crews tackle overnight fire near Dunrobin

A local family escaped unharmed after a garage fire spread to their single-family home near Dunrobin.

Around 12:20 a.m. on Friday, February 19, Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) responded to Woodkilton Road, between Vances Side Road and Kinburn Side Road, after a 911 call reporting flames coming from the back of a garage.

According to OFS, the fire was spreading fast but the quick-thinking caller was able to get their family out of the home safely.

A working fire was declared when crews arrived on scene, and tankers were quickly shuttled in from the local marina.

There were no injuries reported and an OFS investigator has been dispatched to determine what caused the fire.
