Provincial police officer stabbed near Belleville, suffers serious injuries

A 26-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer.
Investigators say the incident happened at about 1 a.m., on Sunday, near Belleville.
They say an OPP officer tried to stop a vehicle, but it instead collided with the officer's cruiser.
Police say both people got out of their vehicles and the officer was stabbed.
An individual, wanted in connection with a violent assault on an OPP member near Foxboro, n/w of #Belleville overnight, has ben arrested without further incident. The shelter in place is now over. The OPP says the officer was treated for serious injuries after being stabbed in the neck. The officer is recovering in hospital in stable condition.
