Arrest made after multiple Sandy Hill, Centretown, New Edinburgh area break-ins

A 59-year-old Ottawa man is facing charges after break-ins at a handful of apartment buildings in Sandy Hill, Centretown and New Edinburgh.

Ottawa police officers have been investigating four incidents which targeted apartment parking garages, storage rooms and mail rooms, since January 14, 2021.

Investigators identified the suspect after reviewing surveillance videos and recovering DNA evidence from a crime scene. 

Raymond Cormier has been charged with: 

  • Commercial Break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence (three counts)
  • Possession of Break and Enter tools (three counts)
  • Residential Break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence
  • Possession of property obtained by crime
