Ottawa Public Health (OPH) is reporting 95 COVID-19 patients in local hospitals, 30 of whom are in intensive care units, as it confirms another 194 new cases of the virus in the community.

The number of local COVID-19 hospitalizations is actually down one from the number reported Monday, but the ICU number is the highest it's ever been in Ottawa.

OPH says overall hospital capacity in the city is at 96 per cent, while ICU beds are 77 per cent full and ICU ventilator beds are at 42 per cent capacity.

No new deaths reported Tuesday, April 13, leaves Ottawa's pandemic death toll at 476.

The city's weekly COVID-19 incidence rate is still climbing — now up to 184.3 per 100,000 residents. The local positivity rate, however, remains unchanged at 9.9 per cent.

OPH is reporting additional COVID-19 outbreaks at schools on Tuesday. There are 20 schools experiencing outbreaks, which is up 12 from a week ago. Elsewhere, outbreaks have been confirmed at 19 healthcare institutions and two childcare centres.

Five community outbreaks have been cleared in the last two days, according to OPH, which says it's still monitoring 10 others in the city.

OPH knows of 2,617 active cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa.

There have been 20,267 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the city (17,174 resolved) since March of last year — 1,944 in the last week alone.

Ontario is reporting 3,670 new cases of COVID-19, Tuesday, including 32 in the Eastern Ontario Health Unit's area, 19 in the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark district and 15 in Renfrew County and district.
