Popular Almonte café announces its closure

By Victoria Williston

CORRECTION: This story originally reported that Luna Handpies & Café was closing due to the pandemic, but CityNews has been contacted by the owners of the cafe who say that is false.

A popular cafe in Almonte is closing for good.

Luna Handpies & Café, located at 61 Mill St., said in a Facebook post that they will be closing at the end of April.

Owners Karyn and Scott say supporting local is the most important thing people can do to help the community as most of them are, “right on the edge”.

“Small businesses don’t advertise their struggles, but trust us they are all struggling.”

Residents who are able, can help give Luna Handpies & Café one last boost as retail food and drinks will be 30 per cent off until closing day, but their handpies are still regular price.

The handpies are crafted by hand at the cafe and come in many different flavours like Garlic Mushroom, Halloumi Curry, Kimchi, or the regulars like Shepherd's Pie and Chicken Pot Pie.
