Sentencing being finalized for Arnprior man in 2018 stabbing of ex-lover

A 74-year old Arnprior man, found guilty of several criminal charges after the stabbing of a woman in a wooded area back in 2018, will find out when he will be sentenced later this week.
Bill Kirby was found not guilty of attempted murder, but guilty of assault, kidnapping, issuing death threats and several sexual assault charges back in March.
The repeat offender who has yet to serve any jail time is set to be back in court this Friday.
When Kirby's defence council, Adrian Cleaver, appeared before Justice Martin James to argue for a limited sentence, he asked that his client serve 12-to-18 months for the sexual assault. He also argued for a six-to-12 month term for indecent assault to go along with an additional six months for pointing a firearm and 30-days for each assault.
Cleaver argued for the sentences to run concurrent, meaning his client would spend a year-and-a-half behind bars for those offences.
