Canadian Museum of History plans to reopen in June

By Dani-Elle Dubé

Fans of the Canadian Museum of History will have to wait until June for the museum to welcome them once again.

An announcement from the museum on Thursday confirmed that the museum, located in Gatineau, will reopen as of 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 2.

It is also the same day Ontario’s stay-at-home order is expected to lift.

The museum will open Wednesday through Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and until 7 p.m. on Thursdays.

Visitors will be welcomed back with the special exhibition, Queens of Egypt, which was originally scheduled for May 19.

The exhibit includes 300 iconic objects, including monumental statues, sarcophagi and jewellery, associated with queens like Nefertari, Nefertiti and Hatshepsut.

Visitors can book their timed admission tickets online beforehand at HistoryMuseum.ca.

The museum’s sister institution, the Canadian War Museum, remains closed until further noticed due to COVID-19 restrictions.
