A 35-year-old man is facing a list of charges after police say an employee at a west Ottawa car dealership was assaulted with a baseball bat.
Investigators say, a few weeks ago, a man purchased a vehicle from a car dealership in the west end of the city but was unsatisfied with his purchase. That man returned to that business on Monday, May 31, armed with a baseball bat.
Officers were called to the car dealership around 9:30 a.m. after a man wearing a ski mask and holding a baseball bat stormed into the building. The suspect was making threats before he eventually hit an employee with the bat.
The employee was able to escape and contact police. The victim suffered serious, but not life-threatening injuries.
The suspect fled the area but police officers caught up with him a short while later.
John Walsh, 35, of Ottawa, has been charged with:
- Disguise with Intent
- Assault with a weapon
- Aggravated assault
- Forcible confinement
- Uttering death threats
- Robbery/Assault with intent to steal
- Mischief under $5,000
- Breach of probation (two counts)
Walsh is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
