UPDATE: OPP probe suspicious death south of Smiths Falls

The Leeds County OPP has charged a man in connection with a homicide that happened near Seeley’s Bay.
On Tuesday at about 4:30 a.m., officers responded to a 911 call at a residence on Highway 15, located about 40 minutes south of Smiths Falls.
Police found a deceased man at the location.
Two other people sustained serious injuries and were transported to hospital by paramedics.
Jay Slade, 36, of no fixed address, has been arrested and charged with:
- first degree murder
- indignity to a dead body
- two counts of assault causing bodily harm
OPP continue to investigate with the help of the Office of the Chief Coroner of Ontario and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Services, OPP Crime Unit and East Region Forensic Identification Services.
The identity of the victim is not being released at this point, OPP say.
Provincial police have taken one man into custody in connection with a suspicious death in Leeds and Thousand Islands Township.
Around 4 a.m. on Tuesday, June 1, the officers with the Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), responded to a 911 call from a residence on Highway 15, south of Smiths Falls.
Officers located one man dead at the scene and two other people who were seriously injured. They were all rushed to hospital by Leeds and Grenville County Paramedics.
A 36-year-old man, of no fixed address, was taken into custody at the scene and police say the accused is known to the victims.
The OPP says the investigation, with the assistance of the OPP Leeds County Crime Unit and East Region Forensic Identification Services (FIS), is in its early stages and the identity of the deceased is not being released at this time.
