Police investigate east end shooting

Ottawa police’s Guns and Gangs Unit are investigating a shooting that happened in Chapel Hill that left one victim with a gunshot wound.

Police say the shooting happened at about 5 p.m. on Saturday in the 1000 block of Ashmont Street, near Orleans Boulevard and Meadowglen Drive.

A single victim sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to hospital for treatment.

Investigators believe that the incident was targeted and that there is no imminent risk to the public.

Anyone with information about the shooting or was witness to events surrounding the shooting are asked to call the police’s Guns and Gangs Unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 5050 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
