New COVID-19 outbreak at childcare centre, no new hospitalizations in Ottawa

Ottawa Public Health (OPH) is reporting one new outbreak of COVID-19 at St. Anthony's Children's Centre, affecting three children, but says local hospitalizations due to novel coronavirus remain low.

There are now two COVID-19 outbreaks being reported in the city as the one at Grandir Ensemble Garderie La Maisonnee daycare, affecting two children and one staff member, is also ongoing.

There are just two people in Ottawa hospitals battling COVID-19, one of whom is in intensive care.

OPH is confirming 10 new cases of the virus in the city on Wednesday, August 11. It's also adding one to its overall Delta variant count, which is now at 78 over the course of the pandemic and 33 in the last 30 days.

There have been 82 new cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa over the last seven days. That's the same number of active cases OPH says it knows about as of Wednesday.

Ottawa's weekly COVID-19 incidence rate is up to 7.8 per 100,000 residents.

Residents being tested for novel coronavirus are seeing positive results 0.8 per cent of the time.

OPH's latest COVID-19 vaccination data shows 84 per cent of residents 12 and up have had at least one shot and 74 per cent have had two. In residents over the age of 18 the single-dose percentage remains the same but 75 per cent have received their second doses.

There has not been a death related to COVID-19 in Ottawa since July 8. The city's pandemic death toll is at 593.

There have been 27,903 cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa (27,228 resolved) since the spring of 2020.

Ontario is reporting 324 new cases of COVID-19 and three new deaths linked to the virus on Wednesday.
