Over 30 school bus routes for OCSB, OCDSB cancelled due to ‘severe’ driver shortage

Several school bus routes for both the public and Catholic school boards have already been cancelled by the Ottawa Student Transportation Authority, forcing some students to take OC Transpo to help deal with a bus shortage.

The OSTA announced on Saturday that eight bus routes for the Catholic school board were cancelled, while 24 were cancelled for the public school board.

“There have been multiple changes and cancellations to transportation services for [Ottawa-Carleton District School Board] and [Ottawa Catholic School Board] students due to severe driver shortages,” the OSTA said on its website. “OSTA continues to work with its operators and OC Transpo to find creative solutions to provide service to as many students as possible during the unprecedented circumstances.;’

Some grade seven to 12 students will have to transition to public transit, and some yellow bus service has been changed and/or cancelled as of this weekend.

“For cancelled routes, parents will need to find alternative transportation to get their children to school for the new few weeks until services stabilize.”
