UPDATE: Security guard shot in ByWard Market incident
In a follow-up news release, police say they were called to Clarence Street between Dalhousie and William streets Monday at around 1 a.m. following reports of several gunshots being fired.
A young man from the Scarborough area shot at bar security after being denied entry into a bar, striking a security guard twice in the leg, police allege.
Patrol officers in the immediate area engaged in a foot pursuit with the suspect who fled from police, firing at one of the pursuing officers as he did so.

The officers ultimately arrested the suspect identified as Andre Green and recovered the involved firearm.
Green is due to appear in court Monday and has been charged with attempted murder, pointing a firearm and several other firearm offences.
Green was not a licensed restricted firearms owner.
The victim is expected to go to surgery.

Police said Monday that an area of the market on Cumberland Street from Murray Street to Clarence and Murray streets were closed from Dalhousie to Cumberland streets due to an ongoing investigation.
Police did not say what the investigation entailed at this time.
