Dog dies of smoke inhalation in Gatineau house fire

A dog has been killed in a Gatineau house fire.

Gatineau fire crews responded to a one-storey home at 81 Moncion St., near the base of the Gatineau Parkway, shortly after 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 17.

The fire was contained to a one room in the front of the home, where the fire had started, and four people were evacuated.

The Ottawa Humane Society was called in to recover the dog, which died of smoke inhalation.

Damage from the blaze is pegged at $71,500.
