Six people on stranded boat rescued near Nepean Sailing Club

By Dani-Elle Dubé

Thanks to a jet ski driver’s quick decision to call Ottawa Fire Service’s Water Rescue crew, six people aboard a stranded 21 ft. boat have been brought back to shore safely.

According to fire services, they received a call from the jet ski driver at about 8:20 p.m. on Friday reporting that a boat had become stranded in shallow waters with no fuel.

The crew responded to the call on the Ottawa River near the Nepean Sailing Club.

When crews arrived, they used two boats to transport the stranded boat and the people on it to shore.

All boaters were wearing personal flotation devices.

There were no reported injuries.
