Outbreak of 13 COVID-19 cases closes St. Benedict School in Barrhaven

An elementary school in Barrhaven is closed following a COVID-19 outbreak.
Ottawa Public Health (OPH) confirmed at least 13 cases of COVID-19 at St. Benedict School, on Tuesday, September 28.
The Ottawa Catholic School Board (OCSB) is suggesting parents be prepared to wait at least 10 days, or possibly longer, for the school to reopen.
It is still unclear what caused the outbreak, but OPH is working with the board in its investigation.
According to the OCSB, there are 39 total active cases of COVID-19 within its schools, but there are no other closures.
OPH is reporting ongoing COVID-19 outbreaks at 14 Ottawa schools.
