Carleton Place man arrested after parked vehicle hit by gunshots

Smiths Falls Police Service (SFPS) officers have arrested a man following a report of a possible gunshot.
On Tuesday, November 2, police say they received a call at about 3:40 p.m. to attend to the area of Sussex Street to investigate a possible shooting.
An investigation revealed that a man had discharged a firearm, striking an unoccupied parked vehicle and made threats toward another man.
Then on Thursday, November 4 at around 10:15 a.m., with the help of the OPP Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement Squad, the suspect was located and placed under arrest and held for a bail hearing.
Dusty Mervin Bell, 34, of Carleton Place has been charged with the following:
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm (two counts)
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm (two counts)
- Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing a firearm present (two counts)
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (two counts)
- Careless use of a firearm
- Using a firearm while committing an offence
- Mischief under $5,000
- Uttering threats to cause bodily harm
- Possessing of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order (four counts)
- Failing to comply with undertaking release conditions (two counts)
- Failing to comply with probably order release conditions (two counts)
