Ottawa is getting a new COVID-19 care clinic, this time dedicated only to the city's kids.
On Monday, November 8, the new clinic, which is set to open in Orléans, will give families more options to COVID-19 care for their little ones. However, this new clinic runs on an appointment-only basis, and is available to families of kids showing cold symptoms.
According to the Ottawa COVID-19 Testing Taskforce, the East Ottawa Kids Care Clinic will give families an “in-person alternative.”
The clinic, which will be open seven days a week, will be located at the Ottawa Medical Group at 4289 Innes Rd.
The following groups will be assessed:
- Children and youth aged two2 months to 17 years, who are showing symptoms such as a cough, fever, vomiting, belly pain, or sore throat
- Children or youth who may need a COVID-19 swab
- Parents who may not be able to get an appointment through their health care provider
CHEO' s president Alex Munter wrote on Twitter that this new clinic will work as an alternative to CHEO's emergency department for those parents who might not be able to get a COVID-19 appointment with their family doctor.
Head's up, east-end #Ottawa families.
New alternative to @CHEO's busy Emergency Dept for parents who can't get into the doctor's office for their child's cold- and flu-like illness. #ottnews #Orleans https://t.co/VRUGJn45Cs— Alex Munter (@AlexMunter) November 6, 2021

The clinic will be open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. as well as Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
