Teen arrested after gun pointed at students on Carleton University campus

An 18-year-old is facing weapon-related charges after police say someone pointed a firearm at students at Carleton University on the weekend.
Campus Safety Services told the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) on Sunday, November 28, it was investigating an incident from at 2 a.m. the previous day, in which a man was seen pointing a firearm at students.
Officers reviewed the evidence and arrested a man. When arrested, the man was in possession of a fraudulent Ontario driver’s licence.
The suspected firearm, determined to be a pellet gun, was later seized.
A teen from Durham has been charged with:
- Pointing a firearm
- Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace
- Unlawful possession of a counterfeit document
He was released from police custody with conditions.
The OPS continues to see a high number of authentic-looking fake firearms, including air pistols, BB guns, imitations and replicas in public or used in crimes. It's reminding residents that exhibiting, manipulating, or carrying these items is dangerous and has triggers multiple priority police responses.
