Ottawa’s Rachel Homan to represent Canada in mixed doubles at Olympics

By Canadian Press

Rachel Homan and John Morris will represent Canada in mixed doubles curling at the Beijing Olympics.

Curling Canada had to select a team after last month's playdowns in Portage la Prairie, Man., were cancelled due to COVID-19 issues.

The federation consulted with the Canadian Olympic Committee and Own the Podium before announcing the pairing today.

Morris won mixed doubles gold with Kaitlyn Lawes at the 2018 Pyeongchang Games in the discipline's Olympic debut. Homan represented Canada in the women's team event that year.

Play begins Feb. 2 at the Ice Cube in Beijing, two days before the Games' opening ceremony.

Canada's four-player teams were finalized in November. Jennifer Jones will skip the women's team and Brad Gushue will skip the men's team.
