Two men accused of first degree murder in 2020 death of Carleton Place man

Two men are facing first degree murder charges after a 16-month-long Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigation into the death of Carleton Place's Gregory Slewidge.
In September of 2020, officers responded to a 911 call at 1864 Scotch Corners Rd. in Beckwith Township. There, they found the body of 39-year-old Slewidge, after he had sustained blunt force injuries. Police say there was no sign of forced entry at the facility which Slewidge had rented since 2017.
On Wednesday, January 19, 2022, the OPP says Michael Clairoux, 47, of Nepean, and Lee Marrazzo, 38, of Luskville, Quebec, have each been arrested and charged with first degree murder in connection with Slewidge's death.
The OPP had launched a coordinated visual and social media campaign last fall, along with a $50,000 reward for information that could lead to an arrest in the case.
Police believe the accused and victim knew each other.
Clairoux and Marrazzo are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Wednesday.
The investigation is still underway, according to the OPP. Police urge anyone with additional information to call the dedicated tip-line at 1-844-478-5656, their local police service or – to remain anonymous – call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
Police are also asking the public to continue to respect the Slewidge family's privacy as they continue to grieve.
