Man faces over 30 charges related to 23 break and enters in downtown core

A man in his 40s has been arrested in connection to 23 break and enter incidents that happen in the downtown core over the past month.
Ottawa police confirmed that they had arrested 41-year-old Guy Cote, of no fixed address, who now faces 38 charges in relation to the downtown core break and enters that happened in both commercial and residential buildings between January 11 and February 23.
Police said the suspect targeted electrical, mechanical and fire suppression panels and turned off power or damaged wiring, rendering the system inoperable.
Cote is charged with the following:
- 17 counts of mischief tampering/obstructing property
- 15 counts of breaking and entering
- two count of mischief endangering life
- two counts of possessing a break and enter tool
- theft under $5,000
- making a false fire alarm
Cote was scheduled to appear in court Thursday, February 24.
Additional charges are expected to be laid as the investigation concludes.
