Police charge 18-year-old Ottawa man with extortion in case involving 15-year-old girl

Police have charged an 18-year-old man with extortion after a 15-year-old youth was allegedly coerced into providing intimate images.

The Ottawa Police Services Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) launched the investigation after learning that the young female victim, who lives outside of Ottawa, was being extorted by a person living in Ottawa.

The extortion is believed to have taken place of a period of two years.

In the early morning of Thursday, march 3, the ICE Unit executed a search warrant near Dow’s Lake on Colonel By Drive and arrested a man.

As a result, Luke Benjamin Cosham Mills, 18, of Ottawa has been  charged with extortion and is scheduled to appear in court today.

This remains an active investigation and officers are working to determine whether any other crimes have been committed.

Investigators are also asking for any other victims to come forward to police by calling 613-236-1222.
