Driver seriously injured after car flips, lands against tree

A man was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries after his car flipped and landed against a tree in Manitock.

The crash occurred around 8 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, on Roger Stevens Drive, near Rideau Valley Drive.

Ottawa Fire says the car was pinned against the tree, and the man was trapped inside the vehicle as a result of the accident.

Crews needed to pull the man out of his car using the Jaws of Life. The driver and passenger doors, as well as the roof of the vehicle needed to be removed. 

The victim was pulled out the vehicle by 8:39 a.m. 

Ottawa paramedics confirmed to CityNews he was taken to a nearby trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.

Roger Stevens Drive remained closed between Rideau Valley Drive and River Road by early Saturday afternoon.
