Firefighters arrived at the scene and made entry into the building being faced with smoke and declared a working fire. More firefighters were dispatched to the scene and when they arrived, they found smoke coming from the brick and eaves of the multi-use structure, and the second-alarm fire was declared.
The bulk of the main fire was under control at about 7 p.m.
Crews however had to declare a third-alarm fire shortly after when they saw flames on the second storey roof. Extra personnel were required to fulfil the demands on the scene.
The fire was declared under control at 7:57 p.m.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
