Do you want to be a school bus driver? Well, here's your chance.

The Renfrew County Joint Transportation Consortium (RCJTC) says it needs new school board drivers to service communities in the area.

While the consortium does not employ drivers directly, it works with seven local school bus companies that provide transportation services to school communities within Renfrew County.

No previous experience is required and applications are currently being accepted.

To qualify for employment as a bus driver, you have to:

– Meet the minimum age required to hold a school bus license.
– Hold a valid (non-probationary) driver's license and a very good driving record.
– Undergo & pass a Ministry prescribed medical examination, criminal record search, vulnerable sector clearance and other background checks.

If hired, you’ll be responsible for safely transporting the students to and from school and activities on time.

– Attending in-service safety training.
– Performing pre/post trip vehicle inspections to ensure optimal vehicle safety.
– Ensuring students' safety while boarding, riding, and exiting buses.

Some perks of the job include free training and nights and weekends off.

– Winter break, spring break, and summers off
– Government of Ontario's Driver Retention Program benefits
– Making a real difference in the lives of the families and children in the area
– Personal protective equipment is provided to all drivers to ensure proper respiratory and hygiene safety.
