Six hospitals in the Gatineau and western Quebec regions have been forced to suspend patient visits until further notice due to COVID-19 pressure.
According to the CISSS de l’Outaouais’ announcement issued on Friday, April 15, the decision to suspend visits is to protect the “most vulnerable” patients, healthcare workers and the public.
Hospitals that have suspended visits include:
- Hull Hospital
- Gatineau Hospitals
- Hopital de Maniwaki
- Hopital de Papineau
- Hopital de Shawville
- Hopital de Wakefield
- Hopital Pierre-Janet
However, designated caregivers are still able to continue visiting patients in the hospital to help with their care, but must follow public health measures.
Humanitarian visits are also allowed.
As well, the Montfort Hospital announced that it would be suspending non-urgent and non-emergent activities until further notice due to staff shortages.
The hospital will start putting these activities on hold starting on Tuesday, April 19.
Patients and clients whose appointments are rescheduled will be notified by phone.
