An important fundraiser for the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) is returning live and in person for the first time in two years.
The CN Cycle for CHEO is the CHEO Foundation's most important oncology event, and raises money for childhood cancer care, research and equipment. The event did not take place live in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
With concerns surrounding the Rolling Thunder Ottawa motorcycle convoy scheduled to take place this weekend in the capital, CHEO officials have assured the CN Cycle for CHEO fundraiser is scheduled to take place on May 1, and they have been working closely with the Ottawa Police Service in making sure the event proceeds as scheduled, uninterrupted and safely. CHEO officials do not believe the planned convoy will impact the fundraising event.
“For 15 years, the CN Cycle event has raised more than $10,223,117 to support children, youth and families dealing with a cancer diagnosis,” said Barbara Stead- Coyle, president and chief executive officer of the CHEO Foundation. “The funds raised have had an incredible impact on CHEO’s ability to deliver world-class care. We extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has donated and participated over the years, and we look forward to seeing you all on Sunday, May 1st for a safe and successful event.”
