Lisa MacLeod reveals she’s taking time off

By CityNews Ottawa

Nepean Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) Lisa MacLeod announced on June 24 that she's taking time off to focus on her well-being.

The announcement was made shortly after Ontario Premier Doug Ford and his new cabinet ministers were sworn in at Queen's Park on the morning of Friday, June 24, with no seat for MacLeod.

MacLeod was re-elected on June 2 to represent the Nepean riding.

“Under the advice and guidance from my physician and medical support team, I have been advised to take time off to address and improve my mental health,” she said in a statement. “The last couple of years have been difficult for many people. In my case, my mental and physical health and well-being have been greatly impacted.”

MPP MacLeod plans to rest and recuperate over the next few months, she said in her statement, and insists that she's not saying goodbye, nor is she transitioning to a new job.

“While temporarily taking a breather is not a decision I have taken lightly, it is the right one to make now,” she said.
