Ottawa Public Health (OPH) is reporting an increase in COVID-19 hospitalizations.

OPH is providing updates on its COVID-19 dashboard on Tuesdays and Fridays after more than two years of daily updates.

In Its latest update on July 5, the health unit is reporting 17 people in hospital with COVID-19, six new deaths and two people in intensive care units (ICUs).

In its last update on June 28 (no update was provided on July 1 due to the Canada Day holiday), OPH reported 10 people in hospital with COVID-19, with one new death and one person in ICUs.

OPH is reporting 493 new total COVID-19 cases over the past week, an increase of 268 new cases since its last update last Tuesday when 225 cases were reported.

This comes at a time when OPH recently reported that infections in Ottawa were increasing, and urged Ottawa residents to wear masks indoors where social distancing is not possible.
