Food, arts and culture on display at the Ukrainian market this Sunday

By CityNews Staff

The Capital Ukrainian Festival has partnered with the Ottawa Farmers Market to showcase and honour Ukrainian art and culture this Sunday.

Jane Kolbe, the festivals president and founder, told The Sam Laprade Show on Aug. 23, that they were preparing for an in-person event “full of joy and merriment” this year, but after Feb. 24 — the day Russia invaded Ukraine — they pivoted their plan.

“We're bringing everything everybody loves about the Ukrainian festival back to Ottawa, but we are also doing it while honouring those who are fighting in the war and celebrating the Ukrainian identity and culture that we are fighting for,” she said.

Delicious, traditional Ukrainian food like pierogies, borscht and sausage will be available at the event located at Landsdowne.
