Police charge Laval man with attempted murder

Ottawa Police Service (OPS) investigators charged a man from Laval, Québec with attempted murder following an assault earlier on Aug. 23.

The incident took place in the 300 block of Freedom Private in Ottawa's south end at roughly 7:05 a.m. when a man was attacked outside of a residence after being struck with a hammer and stabbed.

The victim, 23, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect was arrested at his residence by officers in Laval and brought back to Ottawa.

William Robin, 22, was charged with:

Attempt to commit murder
Aggravated assault
Assault with a weapon
Possession of weapon for dangerous purposes

He appeared at the Ottawa Courthouse on Aug. 25 and was remanded into custody.
