Snowsuit Fund kicks of 41st year

The Snowsuit Fund's 2022-2023 campaign is officially underway.
Now in its 41st year, the charitable organization provides disadvantaged Ottawa children with warm winter outerwear.
“This year, with the economic impact of COVID-19 and inflation, we are seeing an increase in demand,” said Laura Parkes, a board member with the Snowsuit Fund on The Sam Laprade Show on Oct. 18.
Snowsuit fund board chair Danny Kingsbury said the organization had to adapt when the COVID-19 pandemic hit.
He explained that the organization introduced appointment only visits that reduced lineups and new fundraisers.
“We sort of had to reinvent ourselves, and we put a good system together,” he said.
Several fundraisers, including the popular 'Dinner Party In a Box', were introduced during the COVID pandemic. The online fundraiser was such a success, that the organizations decided to keep it going this year.
This year's 'Dinner Party In A Box' is taking place on Nov. 26.
“The event provides people with everything you need for the perfect dinner party,” said Parkes.
The Snowsuit Fund provides 16,000 snowsuits annually to children across Ottawa.
