Two murder charges laid in shooting death of teen

Two individuals have been charged with first degree murder in the shooting death of 16 year-old John Ndayishimiye.
The shooting took place on Dec. 6, 2021 at a home in the 2200 block of Elmira Drive near Cobden Road. Police attended the home after receiving a call for service at approximately 3:16 a.m.
The first person charged is Noel Perez, 26, of Ottawa, while the second charge was given to a minor who is too young to be named. Both Perez and the young person are facing further charges of attempted murder in the shooting of a second victim in the same incident.

A third person, Hantel Hersi, 23, is charged with accessory after the fact to murder and attempted murder.
All three suspects appeared in court Friday afternoon. A warrant is being sought for the arrest of a fourth person.
