Environment Canada has issued a special statement for Ottawa and surrounding areas.
The weather agency stated that “significant rainfall is possible from the remnants of Hurricane Nicole” beginning on the afternoon of Friday, Nov 11 into the morning of Saturday, Nov. 12.
Environment Canada said 30 to 50 millimetres of rain is expected, and flash flooding and water pools can appear on roads from heavy downpour.
“The remnants of Hurricane Nicole are expected to track towards southern Ontario reaching the area Friday afternoon,” said Environment Canada. “Heavy rain is expected to result in rainfall totals of 30 to 50 mm with the highest amounts falling Friday evening. Rain is expected to taper to scattered showers Saturday morning. Total rainfall amounts are uncertain as the exact path of the remnants of Nicole is somewhat uncertain. Rainfall warnings may be required as the track of this system becomes more certain.”
