Ottawa resident charged with numerous offences including possession of illegal drugs

The Stormont Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one individual with possession of illegal drugs. 

On Nov. 16, the SD&G Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) executed several warrants at three residences in Cornwall, Ontario. One individual was arrested for possession of suspected fentanyl and oxycodone pills.

The SD&G Crime Unit, Provincial Weapon Enforcement Unit (PWEU), Emergency response team (ERT) and the Cornwall Police Service Street Crime Unit, also assisted with the investigation.

Joseph Kiirya, 19, of Ottawa has been charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-opioid (other than heroin) – two counts
  • Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court 
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition 
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall at a later date.
