With so many new faces around the table, Orléans East-Cumberland Councillor Matthew Luloff hopes there will be more opportunities for council to work together over the coming term.
“Certainly following the last four years, a little more harmony around the table would be would be helpful, or at least a concerted willingness to work together,” said Luloff on The Sam Laprade Show on Nov. 23. “It seems to me that commitment is there. So, I'm feeling quite hopeful about the next four years.”
Given the size of the city and the diversity of rural, urban and suburban wards, there will be disagreements within council, but Luloff believes returning and newly elected councillors can set aside any personal differences and work together.
“We face different challenges,” said Luloff. “Naturally, in a city of our size, you'll have 15 suburban and rural wards that tend to see things in a similar fashion, and then the remainder of the urban wards may see things a little bit differently,”
Despite the personal difficulties of the past, Luloff recognizes the accomplishments of the last term, including the Orléans economic corridor study which passed council unanimously.
Luloff is serving his second term as councillor of the redistricted ward of Orléans East-Cumberland.
