Fire destroys residential building in Gatineau

There are no injuries reported following a gas leak and fire destroyed a two-unit residential building in Gatineau. 

Gatineau fire crews responded to a three-story building at 13 Symmes Street in Aylmer around 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3. 

It took 22 firefighters over four hours to bring the fire under control, and in order to extinguish the blaze, the building had to be demolished. 

The fire caused roughly $185-thousand and the Red Cross is assisting those who have been left without a place to stay.
