Three people from Ottawa facing charges after police find tools for vehicle thefts

Three people from Ottawa have been arrested and charged after Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers found tools capable of stealing vehicles in their possession. 

On Jan. 11, shortly after 3:30 a.m., officers observed two suspicious individuals walking around in a laneway on Fleurette Street in Embrun. During the investigation, three individuals were located with numerous key fobs, key fob programmers and break-in tools.

As a result of the investigation, Daphira Jean-Michel, 18, and Hamza Nabizada, 19, both from Ottawa have been charged with:

  • Failure to comply with undertaking 
  • Conspiracy to commit indictable offence 
  • Possessing automobile master key  – two counts
  • Possession break in instruments
  • Possession of over 30g dried cannabis (or equivalent) in a public place 

Samuel Niyongabo, 18, has been charged with:

  • Conspiracy to commit indictable offence
  • Possessing automobile master key – two counts
  • Possession break in instruments 
  • Possession of over 30g dried cannabis (or equivalent) in a public place
