Head on collision in Algonquin Park kills Ottawa man

A fatal collision along Highway 60 in Algonquin Provincial Park resulted in the death of a 69-year-old Ottawa man and the hospitalization of a 44-year-old and 15-year-old from Madawaska Valley Township.
Patrick Lakanen, 69, of Ottawa was pronounced dead at the scene after his eastbound SUV struck a westbound pick-up truck before 1 p.m. on Jan. 20. The driver of the pick-up, 44, and the passenger, 15, were taken to hospital by paramedic services with serious injuries, according to Killaloe Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
A section of Highway 60 remained closed for 12 hours and has now been reopened to traffic following an investigation by OPP Technical Collision Investigators.
