Fire damages heritage building in Kemptville

By CityNews Ottawa

A heritage building in Kemptville has been damaged by a fire on Saturday, Feb 25.

Firefighters responded to the scene of the building, which is nearly 140-years-old, at the corner of Water Street and Prescott Street.

Roads were closed, but have since reopened.

“We understand that everyone got out safely, and a local agency is overseeing temporary accommodation,” said North Grenville Mayor Nancy Peckford in a social media post. “Some businesses decided to close for the aft, others remained open.”

The building has a Mr. Mozzarella on the ground floor and apartment units located above the restaurant.
