Ottawa police constable charged with assault

A member of the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) has been charged following an on-duty incident last year.

The OPS Professional Standards Unit laid the charge following an investigation into an incident on November 6, 2022.

Cst. Muhammad Omair Khan, 41, of Ottawa, faces on count of assault in relation to an allegation involving a youth in police custody.

He was released with a court date on June 22, 2023, and in the meantime, has been assigned to administrative duties.
