City switching from flood response to cleanup as water levels recede

The worst of the flooding on the Ottawa River appears to be behind us.
With water levels evening out, the city is switching from an emergency flood response to cleanup.
The city says it will start collecting unused sand and sandbags early next week and the items can be placed at the edge of your road for pickup.
You’re advised to use gloves when handling used sandbags because floodwaters may have been contaminated, and with that in mind, the city advises you don’t empty sandbags into lakes, rivers or onto beaches.
The city will take flood-related household waste and trash during regular garbage collection.
Portable toilets and the supply of bottled water will continue in areas where flooding affected wells and septic systems.
