OFS crews tackle fire on NCC trail near Eagleson Road

Ottawa firefighters extinguished a fire on a local trail Tuesday, June 6.

Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) responded to a 9-1-1 call from a hiker around 7:30 p.m. reporting a fire on a National Capital Commission (NCC) trail in the area of Eagleson Road and Robertson Road.

According to OFS, crews located a few downed red pine trees that looked to have been purposely set on fire along the trail, approximately 1 km east of the entrance on Eagleson Road.

Firefighters initially made their way on foot to the location of the fire and met the caller at the scene, after that, a UTV was dispatched to assist with extinguishing the fire.

The small fire was quickly knocked down using hand tools and water from portable tanks.

The fire was contained to its original footprint.
