Pool shed destroyed by fire in Kanata

There are no injuries reported after a pool shed and sauna went up in flames in Kanata Monday afternoon.

Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) responded to the 100 block of Country Lane around 2:15 p.m. after a 9-1-1 call from a home owner reporting the fire in their backyard.

Black smoke was visible from a distance and a working fire was declared before crews arrived in order to dispatch more resources. Firefighters were on scene within three minutes and found the fire had spread from a pool shed to a tree and sauna cover.

The fire was knocked down in less than five minutes after firefighters arrived, before the flames could spread further. A fire investigator is working to determine the cause and origin of the fire.

Meantime, a fire investigator is not needed after a garage fire near Highway 417 and Richardson Side Road.

Firefighters responded to a home on David Manchester Road around 8:30 p.m. Monday. Several 9-1-1 calls reported a fire, including from one person who could see smoke from the 417,

The fire in a detached garage was under control within about 20 minutes and the antique vehicles inside were untouched.

There are no injuries reported.
